The Doubt

Two days before the seminar, Johaima approached me and said that  she's feeling nervous about the coming event. I laughed and told her that everything will fall into place.  She was quite for moment  and I know that something inside was bothering her so I decided to tell her that I'll be the emcee of the event, hoping that somehow, it would ease her doubt and make her comfortable.

" Ate Meg,do you think they will like my singing?", she asked.
" Of course dear. You have a wonderful voice and I'm so sure that everybody will love it", I said, tapping her back.

I was about to leave and get something when she finally said... " what if they laugh at me?"
I hesitated and looked at her. "And why on earth would they laugh at you?  Your a singer, not a clown!", I said in a high -  toned voice.

"Ate Meg, did Ate Sandy told you about it?", she asked.
"told me what?", I replied.

She turned her back and walked inside the vacant room. " what is she saying?" , I asked myself.
Puzzled and curious, I followed her..and there, she showed me her arms. I was so shocked when I found out that these arms were shorter than what normal people have. And his fingers too. They were too small and were not normally shaped.

She pulled my arms and said" I wasn't able to stretch my arms like what your'e doing right now".
I was quiet for a  minute. I realized that this girl thinks that her physical defects would put her to shame if she sang. I held her hands and said" these arms were beautiful"! She looked at me rising her eyebrows.
I hugged her and gave her some words of encouragement.. I told her the story of Saul from the bible and how God used this blind man to preach His words. There is no reason for her to be ashamed and she must show how wonderful she was to have a great talent is singing despite of her incompleteness. Thank God, I convinced her and this made me more excited for the seminar to come.
